Initiatives for the Youth
The Youth Economic Forum (YEF) was launched on October 8th, 2007. The forum is a partnership of youth student groups and NGOs that aims to engage in debate on economic issues in an effort to involve youth in economic policy-making. The forum grew out of an initiative spearheaded by the Minister of Finance, Jihad Azour. The YEF launch ceremony was attended by the Minister of Economy and Trade, Minister of Youth and Sports, in addition to a number of deputies, university directors, as well as representatives from the media, private sector and public sector. During the ceremony, the attendees expressed strong endorsement of YEF, and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Youth Economic Forum and the Ministry of Finance.
The Support of the Ministry of Finance to the Youth Economic Forum (YEF) is part of its strategy to support all youth organizations that aim to promote debate on economic policy issues. The views of YEF are solely the Forum's and do not necessarily represent the Ministry.
