PERSONAL:

Date of Birth: March 28, 1944

Work Experience:

Born in Tripoli-Lebanon on March 28, 1944, Minister Mohammad Safadi graduated from Broumana High School in 1962, acquired “A” level G.C.E.S. in London and later joined the American University of Beirut where he obtained a Bachelor degree in Business Administration in February 1968.


Politics:

Since 2000                                             : Member of Parliament.

July 2005 - July 2008                          : Minister of Public Works and Transport

January 2007 - July 2008                   : Acting Minister of Water and Energy

July 2008 – June 2011                        : Minister of Economy and Trade

Since June 2011                                  : Minister of Finance

 

2000 - 2005:

  • Member of the Finance and Budget Commission.
  • Member of the Economy Commission.
  • Head of the Lebanese – German Parliamentary Friendship Committee.
  • Member of the Lebanese – Kuwaiti Parliamentary Friendship Committee.
  • President of the Lebanese Section for the Arab Common Market.

Social Activities:

Mr. Safadi founded in 2001 the SAFADI FOUNDATION and currently serves as Honorary President of the non-Profit NGO that deals with social, medical, environmental and educational issues and focuses on the development of the individual’s capabilities.

He also holds the following seats and merits:

  • Member of Al Jinan University Board of Trustees (Tripoli).
  • Member of the Entrepreneurial Training Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
  • Member of the American Community School at Beirut (ACS) Board of trustees.
  • Member of John F. Kennedy School of Government Dean’s Council (Harvard University) – Boston.
  • Holds order of the Knights Cross from the French Government.
  • Holds order of Merit Cross from the Federal Republic of Germany.
